JavaOne 2011 was a huge success. We had at least three members of our JUG attend in addition to John Yeary.
John Yeary had the privilege during the Thursday Community Keynote address to hand out a Duke's Choice Award to SodBeans. Sodbeans is an innovative technology featuring an "omniscient" debugger, and is designed to help the visually impaired.
A year has passed since the untimely death of one of our community. Let us take a moment to remember Felipe.
Felipe Gaucho founder of CEJUG, Java Evangelist, and friend passed away last week at age 40 from a heart attack. His contributions to the Java community will be sorely missed.
Last year at JavaOne, Felipe was one of the panelists at my talk on improving JUGs and the Java community. Thanks Felipe.
Our prayers and wishes go out to his family.

SCHEDULE: MEETING scheduled for the 10th of May @ 6:30PM.
SPEAKER: Daniel Lark
TOPIC: JMX, Performance Tuning and Monitoring for Fun and Profit
ABSTRACT:
In this presentation, I will introduce, discuss, and show the usage, benefits of, and coding with JMX. I will specifically address
what JMX is and is not, how JMX can overcome "blackbox" syndrome, how JMX fits into the J2EE ecosphere, tools that are available from
within a J2EE container and externally, what are mBeans, and finally how to code/build them. The talk is meant only as a introduction,
as JMX is complex and very broad subject.
Please note that I will be presenting this from an sysadmin's point of view mostly. I can attest that this one area where
systems/software development and systems administration should intersect.
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
I am Senior Linux Administrator for Veracity Payment Solutions, an Atlanta based Credit Card processing firm. I have over twenty years
of experience in Linux and Unix. I am not a Java Programmer, nor do I play one on TV, but I have and currently do administer high
availability J2EE systems. My experience with Java started with original Blackdown Linux port, so you could say I am not exactly a newb....
