Cancelling redeploy prevents later undeploy

    Details

    • Type: Bug Bug
    • Status: Open
    • Priority: Minor Minor
    • Resolution: Unresolved
    • Affects Version/s: 3.1.1
    • Fix Version/s: None
    • Component/s: deployment
    • Labels:
      None
    • Environment:

      Win 7 Pro SP1 64 Bit

      Description

      Do the following:

      asadmin deploy Your.ear

wait until it is done. Then...

      asadmin redeploy --name Your Your.ear

now immediately kill that task, so you assume nothing happened, but...

In fact you now will neither be able to start the application (since it is already deregistered) so neither you can uninstall it. But also you cannot reinstall or even install it.

asadmin list-applications will show NOTHING deployed!

      NOW YOU'RE SCREWED COMPLELTEY

Haven't found a way to fix this actually!

I'm sorry about that I have tried many times about reproducing but it does no use.
Can you confirm about it if this issue is still exists?
        Thanks.

I saw the same problem when the startup singleton had failed to start. The deployment fails, but the app can't be undeployed or redeployed.

As I am out of office I cannot tell you whether the exact above sequence will still lead to the same problem, but what I can tell for sure is that in GF 3.1.1 still the same result is getting produced every few redeploys simply by doing a redeploy (and you can prevent it by simply doing a restart-domain before the redeploy). As 3.1.2 and 3.1.2.2 has too many bugs that make it impossible to run my EAR (they are fixed but not published as there is no 3.1.3-GA so far), I cannot tell whether that problem occurs in SVN trunk.
