      Description

      When creating a new HTTP listener, I leave the Server Name field blank. After
      saving, the application server puts localhost in the Server Name field (or
      whatever hostname I typed in my browser address bar to access the web admin
      console). When I try to use web services that are on this http listener, the
      WSDL reports localhost in the URL. I have to manually remove the localhost
      Server Name from my new http listener so that the WSDL reports the computer's
      correct host name.

        Ryan, can you try setting it to: "$

        {com.sun.aas.hostName}

        " (without the quotes)?

        Let me know what happens.

        I agree, we should allow the server-name to be left blank.

        it is not AMX which is throwing the error:

        "ADMVAL1049: Attribute 'server-name' is mandatory. A null value is not allowed".

        Such codes are generated at a lower level, perhaps the com.sun.appserv MBean or the validation layer.

        Turns out that i need to pass " " (with a space), not an empty string in order
        for backend to accept it, and write it back out as "" in domain.xml
        In admin-core/admin/dtds/admin-mbeans-descriptors.xml, it did specify that empty
        value is allowed for server-name.
