When calling gdal.open(filename, accesstype), a similar error message may appear
in case GDAL can't return a dataset for the provided input object:
"ERROR 4: `c:\mydataformat.frmt' not recognised as a supported file format"
This actually occurs when calling ImageReaderSpi.canDecodeInput(input) with a
file which can't be opened with GDAL.
We would hide all error messages coming from the GDAL library unless some
environment variable is set.
We may leverage on the CPL_DEBUG environment variable setting.
