[1] lists the default-value "false" for the parameter "com.sun.faces.serializeServerState".
that doesn't correlate with section 7.7.2 of the jsf spec.
-> mojarra and myfaces-core handle it differently (by default).

It's actually section 7.8.2 in the latest spec. I think some sections were added that change the number. In any case, the text Gerhard is referring to is:

"The default implementation Serializes the view in both the client and server modes."

This issue, JAVASERVERFACES-2349, seeks to make it so Mojarra conforms to this statement in the specification.
