      Description

      Currently, the javax.faces.flow.FlowHandler class has an abstraction that hides the CDI dependency of Mojarra's @FlowScoped annotation:

      public abstract class FlowHandler {
      ...
      public abstract Map<Object, Object> getCurrentFlowScope();
      ...
      }

      This is quite helpful, because it provides JSF Portlet Bridges with the ability to decorate the FlowHandler.getCurrentFlowScope() method with an implementation that doesn't depend on CDI. (CDI+Portlet integration hasn't been formally defined yet at the JSR level).

      But the same cannot be said for the new javax.faces.flow.ViewScoped annotation. In order to remedy this, I would like to propose that the following method signature be added to the javax.faces.application.ViewHandler class:

      public abstract class ViewHandler {
      ...
      public abstract Map<Object, Object> getCurrentViewScope();
      ...
      }
