Unfortunately I need to bring this issue up again since I'm again bitten by this bug (See
JAXB-822, which I strongly suggest to re-open, but I'm not allowed to do so).
A nillable element with element content and required attributes cannot be processed using JAXB, since XJC doesn't create an JAXBElement wrapper.
It's occuring for example in the official German federal standard XJustiz set of XML schemas which we are obliged to use.
If this bug cannot be fixed, would you please care to explain a bit longer than the short comment by M. Grebac in
JAXB-822 on 2011-Nov-22? As I wrote in the follow-up comment (which a developer might not have read as the issue was already closed then), that "solution" is not very helpful if one is forced to support a given schema.
Right now, our solution is to generate the code once every time there is an update on the schema and then, by hand, look for all instances where an JAXBElement wrapper is needed, modifying the generated code. This is a very frustrating task.
