      Description

      Process Document review

      line numbers: JCP-2.8-21SEP2011-Redlined.pdf

31, 32 - strike words from "so newly elected EC...LENGTH OF TERM" since we are not changing anyone's term after they have been voted into a seat.

PC> We mean what we say. The Process Document says that they'll serve a three-year term. They may not. The wording is appropriate and necessary.

SS> inventing trouble, and possible fairness issues (why should only newest members get their terms reduced?) please strike this. terms of members elected prior to change in EC distribution should be grandfathered in. not sure what the issue is here. we discussed a gradual reduction process in the ec meeting that would take several years to accomplish and nobody seemed to take issue with that. removing this doesn't really effect that.

We haven't yet locked anything down for the next JSR so it's true to say that newly elected members may not get to serve a full three-year term.

Even if we allow those who hold elected seats to serve their full term, the current plan is that ratified members will not.

So, we need to keep the flexibility that this wording allows us.

We have not yet decided how we will do the merge. It's quite likely that some members who are elected in 2011 - whether to elected or ratified seats - will not in fact be permitted to serve the full three-year term. Therefore we need this language.

This is not a conspiracy against "individual" members. (In fact, given our current thinking, it's more likely that those who will be most affected by this change are the "corporate" members.)

Reopening so I can specify "will not fix" rather than "fixed" - sorry about that.
