      Description

Android currently has no API for WebSocket development (for native app development). I think this is a great opportunity to support the JSR 356/Tyrus APIs on Android/Dalvik.

Do let me know if anything needs to be explained further - I am happy to help.

Please note that these are purely my personal views and certainly not of Oracle's as a company.

        Hi Reza,

        thanks for this issue

have you tried running current Tyrus client on android? (I know it might require some optimisations and it might be just too heavyweight right now, but it could work..)

Since I didn't see "official" support for it (e.g. the way RESTEasy has it: https://github.com/tdiesler/resteasy-mobile), I am assuming it will probably not work as-is. However, I'll give it a try in the next few days and report back.

fixed in the trunk. Some details are covered in https://blogs.oracle.com/PavelBucek/entry/websocket_client_on_android_tyrus, sample test app available on github: https://github.com/pavelbucek/tyrus-client-android-test.

BTW, OK if I get your blog entry out there as something people could give further feedback on?

yes, thats ok. I slightly prefer email to users@tyrus.java.net, since I don't have to approve my own posts there, but I always read and respond to every comment there, so both are ok.

        Thanks!
