 Description

The javadoc descriptions in UIComponent for the abstract methods processDecodes, processValidators and processUpdates specifies: "Call the processX() method of all facets and children of this UIComponent, in the order determined by a call to getFacetsAndChildren()". UIData and other related components do not respect this.

Clearly, the problem is in the javadoc for UIComponent, which is much too restrictive.

This is important, firstly because obviously the spec should be self consistent, but also because it is very misleading when trying to understand how things fit together. The obvious place to look for information about what, in general, these methods do is the base class javadocs, but if this information is incorrect then from the start you are orientated in the wrong direction. This takes considerable effort to overcome.

Having a complete and accurate description of the responsibilities of the methods would, on the other hand, help understanding.

Set priority to baseline ahead of JSF 2.3 triage. Priorities will be assigned accurately after this exercise.
