Given an HTML5 form, with HTML% input types (such as email), form validation is not performed (for an invalid email entered) if the submit is over ajax.
This is because the current Ajax portion of the specification states specifically to collect form elements and pass on over ajax to server side.
We would need to specify (and implement) something to trigger form validation before even collecting elements for ajax submit.

Set priority to baseline ahead of JSF 2.3 triage. Priorities will be assigned accurately after this exercise.
