[JCPNEXT4-26] Permit Spec Leads to choose the length of review periods in weeks Created: 04/Mar/13 Updated: 29/Jul/14 Resolved: 25/Jun/14
|Remaining Estimate:||Not Specified|
|Time Spent:||Not Specified|
|Original Estimate:||Not Specified|
The Process Document currently permits the Spec Lead to choose the length of the various review periods from a set of specific choices (30, 45, 60, 90 days.) There's no particular reason to be so restrictive: instead we could permit Spec leads to choose the number of weeks a review would last, specifying simply the minimum and maximum permissible choice.
This would allow Spec Leads to extend the period of an existing review more flexibly (perhaps by adding one or two weeks.)
It doesn't seem as if this would hurt anything, and the extra flexibility might just help in some cases.

We will make this change when we update the process document for JSR 364.

I don't think the Process Document does restrict the Spec Lead's choices. It simply says that the various reviews should last from 30 to 90 days.
If the PMO has been interpreting this more strictly that seems to be unnecessary.
It seems to me that we need no change. The PMO can today offer the Spec Lead a choice of any number of weeks from 4 to 13.
I'm marking this Resolved pending confirmation by someone from the PMO that my interpretation is correct.
