Oracle and Liferay are preparing the materials for a Transfer Ballot, to move the Maintenance Leadership of the existing technology (as JSR 329) to Liferay.

Comment by jcp_pmo [ 29/Jul/15 ]

The Maintenance Lead role for JSR 329 was transferred by ballot from Oracle to Liferay on 16 June 2015. JSR 329 was the previous version of this specification: Portlet 2.0 Bridge for JSF 1.2. Once the Maintenance Leadership was assigned to Liferay, this proposal was posted for JSR review on 23 June 2015 as JSR 378, Portlet 3.0 Bridge for JavaServer Faces 2.2 Specification. https://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=378

The ballot has been closed:

  • 4 votes for platform
  • 1 vote for standalone
  • 1 vote for EE profile
  • 5 votes for mixed

It was decided by the spec lead to go for a mixed scope, but with a clear separation of concerns. There will no separate JSR be defined, but the official statements on the JCP site must be clarified.
The scope redefinition was summarized in the following document:

 Description

This JSR's scope has to be discussed and probably redefined/extended so all features and requirements discussed in this EG can be successfully made generally available to the user. Depending on the constraints this may require to create an additional EE targeting JSR, or perhaps also it is possible to extend this JSR to also define some EE features additionally.

It was decided to go for a standalone scope first. Integration with JDK will be discussed at a later Point.

Targeting SE 9.

 Description

It is viable to discuss with Oracle JDK architects the required constraints on value type and accessor design. As a result of this task a small document should be written or provided that states the common requirements for SE JSRs like this. As an advantage this document can also be shared with other JSRs that are not lead by Oracle.

Given Java 9 has been deferred to early 2016 this issue probably won't matter at all for 1.0
