The Java Champions are an exclusive group of passionate Java technology and community leaders who are community-nominated and selected under a project sponsored by Oracle. Java Champions get the opportunity to provide feedback, ideas, and direction that will help Oracle grow the Java Platform. This interchange may be in the form of technical discussions and/or community-building activities with Oracle's Java Development and Developer Program teams.

This project enables a communication between the blind and the deaf through a cell phone. Rybena means to communicate. Speech is converted into text and then to the Sign Language. The system connects to a Databank where a set of animations is stored. For each recognized word, a corresponding sign animation is transmitted to the client’s cell phone. In case one word does not have a correspondent symbol images of its characters are transmitted letter by letter to the mobile device.
