The OS is Debian 6.0.7 (squeeze).

The JDK is openjdk-6-jdk 6b27-1.12.4-1.  (This is a backport of Debian
wheezy's JDK built from sources on Debian squeeze.  The original JDK
on squeeze, 6b18-1.8.13, is too old and had other issues.)

But I believe, I have seen the same problem also on an openSUSE 12.2
box with java-1_7_0-openjdk-devel-1.7.0.6-3.37.1.x86_64.  I'll check
again tomorrow.
