Thanks for the update. I assume, that will only apply to CLDC 8 or Java SE Embedded, not the "OPTIONAL" packages in JSR 361 (MEEP), right?

In order to preserve compatibility and guard against fragmentation,
the Stripped Implementations feature of Java ME 8 (and SE 8) requires

We been working with Oracle's legal department on these revisions
for some time now. Unfortunately, there is insufficient time for
of the Expert Group, members of the JCP Executive Committee, and other
interested parties to review and comment on these changes.
We therefore propose to drop the Stripped Implementations feature from
Java ME 8. This will only require removing the "Stripping on
section in the Adherence to the Java Virtual Machine Specification
of the CLDC Specification. There is no change to the RI or TCK tests.
We remain convinced that Stripped Implementations are important to the
future of the Platform. This does not mean "stripping on
deployment" will be dropped,
but will be postponed to a later update of Java ME and SE.
