Q. Is there a Java User Group logo for use by my local user group organization?

A. The Java User Group button has been especially created for local user groups around the world to use on their website to show their support of Java technology. It can be found here

Q. Do I need to be a member of Java.net to use the JUG pages?

A. You do not need to be a member of java.net to browse the existing JUGs or to use the contact information for the JUG owners.

Q. I am starting a new JUG, or my JUG needs a new website. Can we be part of java.net?

A. To get your JUG hosted at java.net, go to here and follow the instructions.

Q. How do I join a JUG?

A. Go to Java.net JUGs listing to browse the JUGs here then go to their projects site to request project membership role. Or Search for a JUG to find a JUG in your area. There might be more than one JUG in your immediate area, so it is helpful to look at their website (if available) or contact the JUG leader to find out more about the group's focus and style.

Q. How do I post information about my established or forming JUG?

A. To list your JUG on java.net JUG listing, follow this link and follow the instructions on this page. You should subscribe to the JUG leaders mailing list to introduce yourself or to request any assistance.

Q. I have another home page. I want to link my project to my other page. Is this possible?

A. Follow the instructions to create a project, and once it is created, you can add a wiki or website feature that points to wherever your real home page is.

Q. How do I edit my JUG listing?

A. Follow these steps:

  • login to java.net
  • You have to be the project owner of the JUG to see any projects/JUGs listed on the edit page
  • Edit your project

Q. My JUG is in an embargoed nation. Can I still list my JUG in java.net?

A. Due to java.net's terms of use agreement (sections d. and e.), the use of java.net's site infrastructure will be unavailable to users located in certain embargoed countries. For more information about the embargoed countries list please refer to this United States government website or download pdf: FAR Part 746 - Embargoes and Other Special Controls If in doubt, contact [Oracle nichole.scott@oracle.com].

Q. I'm interested in news about the JUG community. What can I do?

A. You have many options including checking the News section and subscribing to the RSS feed. You should subscribe to the JUG leaders mailing list to keep in touch with what's going on in the world of Java community.

Q. I have questions that are neither answered on the JUG leaders mailing list, nor on the web. What now?

A. Please get in contact with the community leads, mail addresses: right side bar on the entry page.

Q. I have technical issues. I have no idea how to solve them.
