Dear reader,

Now that the RS232 plugin is finished and completely functional (at-least for Mac OS X and Windows 7), i am wondering if some of the UI design chooses were appropriate.

I am a programmer and not a UI designer so your opinion is very welcome!

In the RS232 output window the user can select the Serial port and baud rate. Maybe this should be located somewhere else in the IDE and not in the output window. Perhaps it should be in the toolbar or options window.

Or should it stay where it is?

What do you think?

Nice design.

One suggestion although: add a drop-down list with options
  • No line ending
  • Line feed
  • Carriage return
  • Both LF & CR

Those options are especially handy when dealing with a modem or a WiFi card with
+++
to enter command mode (no LF and no CR).

I will add this in the next version of the rs232 plugin.
Thanks for your contribution!

Interesting, a NetBeans plugin for RS232.
How does it handle units like Baud or bps?Wink
