In the past the RI was tested on Windows XP as well as Windows 7 and selected releases of Linux.

Maintaining XP machines for testing the RI is becoming more difficult. Microsoft announced Windows XP and its family of operating systems reached the end of their mainstream support period, and entered the extended support phase as it marks the progression of the legacy operating system through the Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy. Hence, the RI QA team will no longer test on Windows XP.

No changes are anticipated that will make the RI incompatible with Windows XP.

Windows XP is identified as a supported version in numerous wiki pages and documents. As time permits, these references will be updated to say that Windows 7 is the only Microsoft operating system supported by the OCAP RI.

Will support on Windows 7 be extended for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the OS?

To be decided. Many/most of us are using 64-bit.
