Hi Folks,

Any comment on this yet?

Hi everyone,

I reviewed JSR 236 and looked at how does it apply to SIP Servlets

http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/jcp/concurrency_utilities-1_0-edr-spec/index.html

The spec is aiming to provide a standard way for asynchronous execution
of application logic. You can see the various interfaces etc in the javadoc.

However, at the moment 236 does not support associating contextual information
to the tasks (Runnable/Callable). For SIP Servlets, this seems critical to me. For
example, any asynchronous execution (eg: ServletTimer) is associated with a SAS.

If JSR 236 can support associating contextual information, then that would
assist our specification in two ways.

1. Supporting an asynchronous API as mentioned by folks in this group.
2. A more powerful ServletTimer functionality.

If you folks agree, we can request JSR 236 EG to allow associating contextual
objects with the tasks.

Let me know what you think. Are there other comments related to JSR 236?

thanks,
Binod.
