Is there any work going on to get efi support into illumos zfs?

Hi Everyone,

If you are running Solaris 11.1, you might have noticed that the root
pool disks are labeled with EFI on x86 systems.

This is a good step in the right direction for reducing the VTOC
disk/slice management in previous releases. Remembering the actual
steps for root disk management is a bit more challenging during this
transition to EFI, if you have both SPARC and x86 systems running
Solaris 10, 11, and 11.1 releases.

I created a cheat sheet to describe root pool disk/boot management for
various Solaris releases, here:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26502_01/html/E36219/device-3.html#device-8
ZFS Root Pool Disk and Boot Administration

Thanks, Cindy
