I don't know the details behind what you are observing, but it is consistent with the direction that Solaris is going.  In Solaris 11 (as of Solaris 11.0 SRU 2, I think) the behavior of file systems added by 'add fs' is such that zfs list does not show them and df shows them in a way that you have no hints about the global zone's dataset layout.

# zonecfg -z dz1 info fs
fs:
    dir: /addfs
    special: rpool/addfs
    raw not specified
    type: zfs
    options: []
# zlogin dz1
[Connected to zone 'dz1' pts/2]
root@dz1:~# zfs list | grep addfs
root@dz1:~# df -h /addfs
Filesystem             Size   Used  Available Capacity  Mounted on
/addfs                 344G    31K       344G     1%    /addfs
root@dz1:~# mount -p | grep addfs
/addfs - /addfs zfs - no rw,devices,setuid,nonbmand,exec,rstchown,xattr,atime,zone=dz1,nozonemod,sharezone=4

It looks to me as though the zfs part of that change got backported to Solaris 10.  The df and mount -p output would come from a separate part that touched the mntfs code (quite separate from the zfs code).

We have two boxes installed.

Sparct4-1   having solaris10 update 11  and have NGZ

M3000    having  solaris10  update 9  and have NGZ

We do not add file system as datasets to the NGZ.

Infact I create a zfs file system ,made its mountpoint property to legacy and assigned it to the NGZ.

Here is my observation:

In the sparct4 machine non-global-zone having  solaris 10 update 11 , the NGZ  have the “zfs list”  output

# df -h /diskqasite2

Filesystem             size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on

datapool2/diskqasite2

                       300G    31K   300G     1%    /diskqasite2

#

#

# zfs list

NAME                   USED  AVAIL  REFER  MOUNTPOINT

datapool2              528K  1.60T    31K  /datapool2

datapool2/diskqasite2   31K   300G    31K  legacy

zonecfg output

fs:

        dir: /diskqasite2

        special: datapool2/diskqasite2

        raw not specified

        type: zfs

        options: []

net:

But in the M3000   non-global-zone having solaris update 9   “zfs list” has no output ,though df –h has the mountpoint.

# df -h /data

Filesystem             size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on

datapool3/nrgyasp6esvrdr

                       547G    21K   547G     1%    /data

#

#

# zfs list

no datasets available

#

Zonecfg output

fs:

        dir: /data

        special: datapool3/nrgyasp6esvrdr

        raw not specified

        type: zfs

        options: []

Check the attached excel sheet with their property difference.

 Thanks
